Loan Applications
Before beginning the application process, select a serviced lender to take advantage of Iowa Student Loan Borrower Benefits. In order to use these federal loan applications, you must be attending a Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFELP) college/university.

Stafford Loan Master Promissory Note (MPN)
Stafford Loans are the most commonly borrowed federal loans. There are two types:
- Subsidized — Based on financial need.
- Unsubsidized — Not based on financial need.
Note: If you have ever obtained a Federal Stafford Loan, Federal PLUS or Federal Grad PLUS Loan in the past, you may not need to complete a new MPN. Please refer to the instructions on the first page of the MPN to determine, or contact your school to inquire, whether you need to complete a new MPN.

Parent PLUS Loan Application and Master Promissory Note (MPN)
Parent PLUS Loans are federal loans that allow parents to take out loans for their undergraduate dependent students. These loans are not based on financial need, but will require parents to pass a credit check.

Endorser Addendum to Federal PLUS Loan Application and Master Promissory Note (MPN)
This form is for Parent PLUS Loan borrowers who are ineligible for a Federal PLUS Loan because of an adverse credit history and wish to obtain an endorser for the loan.

Grad PLUS Loan Application and Master Promissory Note (MPN)
Grad PLUS Loans are federal loans designed for graduate or professional students. These loans are not based on financial need, but will require you to pass a credit check.
